Clay figurines, from the Museum’s permanent collection, have inspired the design of this exquisite brooch. The pillar figurines, symbols of fertility, are characterized by an elongated, pillar shaped lower body. Dating from Ca. 2750-1900 B.C.E., they were indegenous in Syria and Mesopotamia.
