This publication was prepared to accompany the exhibition, Sweet As Honey in celebration of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and is illustrated with photographs of selected artifacts from the exhibition.

This cookbook offers a compilation of innovative recipes with honey as well as old favorites. Some have been gathered from published sources such as Phyllis Glazer and Sherry Ansky and are used with their gracious permission, and others have been gathered from family recipes from a broad range of cultures including Aaysha Schachbari from the Arab Village of Daburya and Miriam Yaakobi, a Kurdish immigrant from Iran.
Honey, as it is marketed around the world today, refers to bee honey. But in ancient times, honey was made mainly from fruits. Most of the recipes in this book use bee honey. Some recomend using date honey (Silan),which adds a distinctive flavor, or honey from other sources.
This cookbook opens with recipes on how to make your own honey from dates, figs, and grapes.
