The Founders and the History of the Collection

When one day late in the autumn of 1943 Dr. Elie Borowski bought his first cylinders seal, he never suspected that he had set his feet on a path which would bring him to Jerusalem, to a museum built to house the work of a lifetime. That single seal is now one of the fourteen hundred seals and over four thousand objects in his collection.

Three Faces of Monotheism

The Bible Lands Museum presents a new ecumenical exhibition, dedicated to the symbols of the three monotheistic religions: Judaism, which heralded the belief in one god, Christianity which developed from it but turned to a different path, and Islam which was influenced by the two preceding faiths and created a path of its own.

Glories of Ancient Greece

The reinstalled exhibition traces the development of Classical art over a period of 2,000 years. It showcases a rare collection of Greek pottery from 3,500 years ago, vases portraying scenes from Greek mythology, exquisite jewelry including a magnificent gold wreath from the Hellenistic period, necklaces, rare gold and crystal earrings and beautiful bracelets.

"From Pompeii to the Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem", The Fresco Room at the Bible Lands Museum holds breathtaking wall paintings of the 1st century from the province of Campania in Italy. One of the prominent pieces from the collection is the "Erotic Scene of a Nude Nymph".
