First session in a series of creative workshops inspired by ancient crafts

Friday | 31.10 | 10:00–13:00

A fascinating encounter exploring the drypoint printmaking technique, known to the art world from the Renaissance until today. The program combines a guided tour of the museum’s galleries with a hands-on printmaking workshop led by artist Yael Buberman-Atas.

In the first part of the session, participants will join a guided tour of the museum’s galleries with Roni Bar Sheshet. The tour will bridge the ancient and the modern through the museum’s impressive collection of seals. We will learn about the different types of seals in the ancient world, their uses and meanings, and discover the connection between ancient sealing techniques and today’s drypoint printmaking.

In the second part of the session, participants will experiment with drypoint printmaking alongside artist Yael Buberman-Atas. This technique involves direct engraving on a plate, without the use of acid – a method employed by the greatest masters since the 15th century, including Rembrandt.

Participants will work on recycled plates (tetrapak) and create their own personal engravings using etching tools, ink, and a printing press, inspired by the museum’s collection.
