Event held in Hebrew
The second event in the “How Do Talk about War?” series turns the focus inward — toward the figure of the warrior and the question of heroism.
Under the title “I Want to Be a Hero”, we will meet Professor Gur Zak and musician Aya Zehavi.
Professor Zak will take us into the great epics of Greek and Roman culture, and together with Aya Zehavi’s songs, we will explore what makes a person a hero, the connection between heroism, revenge and forgiveness, and the moral and human costs that war exacts from those caught within it.
The event will combine conversation and live musical excerpts.
The program was created in response to the exhibition “As Soon as the War Is Over” presented at the Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem, which examines the concept of war through formative historical stories from our region.
About the Series: “How Do Talk about War?”
Curated and hosted by Haya Gilboa
This special three-part series explores how wars become stories — through art, literature, music, television, and philosophy.
Each event offers a different perspective on questions of heroism, memory, pain, and hope.
Participants may attend each event separately, though attending the full series is highly recommended.
Haya Gilboa is a producer, content curator, and host of the series, and a doctoral candidate in the Department of Literature.
