The Pax Romana (“Roman Peace”) in Judea was achieved through the extensive use of force by Rome’s imperial legionary army.

Following the suppression of the Great Jewish Revolt, the Romans maintained this “peace” by stationing the Tenth Legion Fretensis in Jerusalem, the capital of the Jewish people.

The lecture will explore how this legion operated to maintain Roman rule in Judea and, in particular, address the long-standing question: Where exactly was the Tenth Legion stationed in Jerusalem?
