Award-winning illustrators Anat Warshavsky and Danna Donna Shamir bring ancient history into vivid contemporary life.
Their artwork draws inspiration from the BLMJ’s extensive collection of ancient seals and stamps.
Their work combines the ancient craft of printmaking – whose origins trace back to prehistoric times—with imagery from ancient Mesopotamian seals.
They illustrate a fantastical world that echoes the grandeur of the ancient Near East while bridging past and present. Through this work, they join a continuous tradition of artists spanning from humanity’s earliest days to today, each leaving their mark on our cultural heritage.
